The half term is nearly upon us and if you're worried that the children will be bored this holiday then don’t worry as our sports and fitness centres have a whole host of activities to keep them entertained! There are limited places available on our swim crash courses so don’t miss out!

With summer nearly here it’s great news that our refurbished outdoor pool at Pools on the Park opened this week.

We also have new activities taking place in our RISE (Richmond Inclusive Sport and Exercise) programme Check out our article below for more details.

Move, stretch and strengthen

Reduce life’s stresses and centre yourself with one of our daytime Yoga classes at Shene Sports & Fitness Centre.

Yoga is one of the most widely practiced of spiritual disciplines. The postures used in Yoga have been developed over thousands of years. It encourages relaxation and the posture work can alleviate back pain as well as improving circulation.

Each class will improve posture, enhance your breathing and build your strength, flexibility and balance. Your stress levels will fall as your sense of wellbeing improves.

Our daytime Yoga classes are available:

12.30-1.30pm Vinyasa Yoga

Tuesday
10.30-11.30am Vinyasa Yoga

Wednesday
12.30-1.30pm Iyengar Yoga

Thursday
12.30-1.30pm Hatha Yoga

Outdoor pool now open

Following the recent refurbishment we are now pleased to announce that the outdoor pool at Pools on the Park is now open.

Why not take a dip in our fantastic outdoor pool.

Our current opening times are as follows:
Monday to Friday 8.00am-4.00pm
Saturday and Sunday 7.00am-5.45pm

Please note that the opening hours are based on the available staff to safely lifeguard the pool. We are continuing to recruit to the vacant positions and an update of opening times will be advised in due course.

Looking for something fun to do during the half term holidays?

Here at Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre we are running swimming crash courses, Tuesday 31 May to Friday 3 June. A short intensive course is often the best way to learn to swim or develop your skills. Courses are available for all ages and abilities including beginners through to improvers.

Summer RISE activities

RISE ( Richmond Inclusive Sports and Exercise) promotes inclusive and disability specific sport and exercise activities in the borough for children, young people and adults.

RISE continues to run their regular activities, including Multi-Sports, Football, Dance & Drama, Trampolining, Gym and Swimming, throughout our Sports & Fitness Centres.

In addition to these activities, we have two new exciting classes – Adult Yoga and Rugby.

Adult Yoga starts on Thursday 19 May, 7.00-8.00pm, at Hampton Sports & Fitness Centre and will run as a progressive 5 week course.

Two Rugby sessions (run by Harlequins Foundation coaches) are being offered for 14-18 year olds and over 18's, starting on 6 June at Teddington Sports Centre, under 14-18's 5.30-6.30pm, over 18s 6.30-7.30pm. These sessions will run weekly.

The summer is nearly here so why not try beach volleyball

Come along to Richmond Volleyball Club and take part. The beach volleyball courts are located at Teddington Sports Centre.

RVB on the Beach Volleyball School offers beach volleyball training and coaching with some of the best instructors and coaches in the England. RVB is based at Broom Road, Beach Courts (next to Teddington School and Teddington Sports Centre)

We also run a variety of other offerings including; beach leagues, private lessons, corporate beach volleyball days, birthday parties, school sessions, UKCC Coaching Courses, daily training and school holiday beach volleyball camps.

RVB caters to all ages (junior and adults) and all skill types so whether you are a beginner looking to learn beach volleyball, an experienced player looking to gain some top quality coaching to hone your skills or somewhere in between, RVB has something for you!

The RVB is run by instructors who bring with them a wealth of beach volleyball playing and coaching experience.

Cycling Fun Day

Come along to Bike Fest on Saturday 25 June at Kneller Gardens.

It’s a festival of cycling and a fun day out for everyone. Bike Fest will have a skills arena and a sprint track for you to test your speed and skills. There will also be a programme of ‘Go Ride’ racing for anyone to have a go at grass track racing and a mini BMX track.

In addition there will be stalls with information about cycling and equipment for cycling.

All activities are free!
• Grass Cyclo Cross – all welcome, any bike will do
• 50 metre sprint lane – how fast are you?
• Skills Arena – can you complete it?
• Bike Doctor – does your bike need a checkup?
• BMX Pump Track – come and have a go
• Bike Marking – make your bike safe
• Rollapaluza – roller racing 1v1
