Karate for kids

Karate is one of the most traditional martial arts, in essence an unarmed-combat system, employing kicking, striking and defensive blocking with arms and legs. There is a big emphasis on mental attitude and courtesy.

Here at Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre our exciting, yet structured and disciplined classes teach children how to focus their attention which improves their ability to learn. We have found that learning builds a real sense of accomplishment in children and with each new accomplishment a child’s self-confidence will grow.

Once we begin to build a child’s confidence we are then able to instil the values of respect, courtesy, honesty and integrity that are the foundations of the martial arts dating back thousands of years.

Children’s Karate is available at Whitton at the following times:

Wednesday
5-7years 5.00-6.00pm
8+years 6.00-7.00pm

Friday
Beginners/Intermediate 6.00-7.00pm

Teddington Masters claim first British record of the Masters Championships

All the staff at Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Teddington Swim Club Masters on their recent British record.

The ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships 2015 took place in Ponds Forge in Sheffield and the Teddington Masters team of Hannah Loughlin, Leon Smith, Steve Folsom and Susan Oltner swam 4:27.72 for gold to set the first record for their club at this event

Masters swimming is a great follow on for those swimmers who are no longer able to commit to training, or are no longer competing at an elite level. It is a great way to continue in the sport and socialise with like-minded people, to keep fit and also to compete at a national and international level.

We’re a successful club with great team spirit! Today the Masters group of Teddington Swimming Club (TSC) has over 150 members, aged from 18 to over 70, offering adult swimming in up to seven sessions across four pools local to the Teddington area. The club has a great team spirit and we aim to support all levels of swimming; from those developing their stroke, to those simply keeping fit, right through to those competing at National and International level. We also run several social events through the year.

If you would like to join, then please drop us a line at masters@teddingtonsc.co.uk or click here for more information. Alternatively, drop in to any of our training sessions.

We hope to see you soon!
