Looking for work? Why not train as a lifeguard?

Lifeguards are an integral part of the staff at a swimming pool. They keep an eye on everything happening from poolside and are qualified to intervene and even save someone’s life if they are in trouble.

The role is nearly always offered on a part time basis and this flexibility means it is often taken up by young people at college or university. For many lifeguarding provides an excellent foundation for a career in the leisure industry – many pool managers began their professional careers as a lifeguard.

The UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland that complies with the industry requirements. This qualification is a recruitment requirement for a number of leisure jobs from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager. On successful completion of this course you will be fully qualified to work as a Pool Lifeguard in the UK.

The NPLQ course comprises both physical training and theoretical classroom work, followed by a water based practical test, dry assessment on pool rescue, first aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and lifesaving skills. The course includes AED bolt on.

All applicants must be 16 years or over.

Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre runs National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) courses throughout the year.

Our summer courses will be held from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 July and Monday 14 to Saturday 19 August.

If you would like to register your interest please email Rob at robert.goulding@richmond.gov.uk

Learn to play the Harlequins way

Harlequins are running a number of summer camps across South East England this summer, for children aged 6 to 18 years old and starting from just &49. The camps provide the opportunity for young people to learn to Play the Harlequins Way. The Harlequins Way has been filtered down from their professional squad to our community coaches and allows them to deliver sessions using the same playing ethos: TRUE.

They play with Tempo, are Ruthless in every contest. Their game is Unpredictable. And, they Enjoy themselves.

The content of the sessions will focus on the fundamentals of handling, creation, identification and execution of space, tackle technique, continuity in attack and defensive organisation. They believe that improving each individuals’ core skills and understanding of the game will allow them to develop as a rugby player and allow them to continue on their journey to reach their full potential.

As well as receiving expert coaching, all participants on our camp will receive a FREE Harlequins gift, a chance to win Harlequins prizes and an exclusive invitation to a Harlequins training session to meet the players.

For more information please contact one of our team here or to book please click here.
