Do your children want to play tennis?

Does your child dream of being the next Wimbledon champion? Here at Teddington Sports Centre we offer a range of tennis courses for all ages.

Tots Tennis
This is an early introduction to the game for pre-school aged children. These are fun based sessions with an emphasis on balance and coordination to help them get ready for our Mini Tennis course. Parents are encouraged to join in the fun with their children on court. These sessions are a great start to the tennis which will help your child enjoy a lifetime of sport.
Available:
Friday
3-5yrs 4.15-5.00pm
Saturday
3-5yrs 12noon-12.45pm

Mini Tennis

This is a great introduction to the sport for young children aged between four and ten years old. It’s just like playing the real game but with smaller courts, nets, rackets and lower-bouncing balls. The low compression balls used in Mini Tennis are now being used by clubs and coaches across the UK to introduce adult beginners to the sport. These slower and lower bouncing balls make it far easier to learn the game.
Available:
Friday
Mini Tennis Red 5-8yrs 5.00-6.00pm
Saturday
Mini Tennis Orange 6-9yrs 11.00am-12noon

There are different levels of Mini Tennis; Red and Orange, each with their own court size and type of ball. This type of approach, based on age and physical maturity enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age.

We have a fantastic highly qualified coaching team here at Teddington Sports Centre that will ensure every child has great fun while learning a new sport.

Looking for a job in leisure?

Lifeguards are an integral part of the staff at a swimming pool. They keep an eye on everything happening from poolside and are qualified to intervene and even save someone’s life if they are in trouble.

Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre runs National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) courses throughout the year.

The role is nearly always offered on a part time basis and this flexibility means it is often taken up by young people at college or university. For many lifeguarding provides an excellent foundation for a career in the leisure industry – many pool managers began their professional careers as a lifeguard.

The UK National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is the most awarded lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland that complies with the industry requirements. This qualification is a recruitment requirement for a number of leisure jobs from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager. On successful completion of this course you will be fully qualified to work as a Pool Lifeguard in the UK.

The NPLQ course comprises both physical training and theoretical classroom work, followed by a water based practical test, dry assessment on pool rescue, first aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and lifesaving skills. The course includes AED bolt on.

All applicants must be 16 years or over.

The next course will be held from Tuesday 30 May to Sunday 4 June.
