Adult swim courses – we’ll teach you how to swim

Our courses start this week, please book now as we have the last few remaining spaces available.

Many adults would like to learn to swim given the right opportunity. Swimming is an excellent form of low impact exercise with many health benefits including weight loss, muscle toning and cardiorespiratory improvement. It’s also good fun.

At Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre we have a range of adult lessons designed for varying abilities. It’s never too late to learn to swim. From lessons for the complete beginner who lacks water confidence to lessons for competent swimmers who want to improve their technique. Feel Good Swim School has it all!

We understand that you may feel embarrassed or nervous about taking swimming lessons as an adult but please don’t feel like you’re the only one.

We offer 6 week courses for beginners, intermediate or advanced swimmers and our new term starts this week.

Book onto children’s ballet at Teddington

If your children are interested in taking dance lessons, you may want to consider enrolling them in a course in classical ballet. Ballet is a form of dance that relies heavily on physical strength and agility, strong concentration skills, an understanding of music and rhythm and a love of movement. Instruction in ballet can provide numerous benefits for children of all ages regardless of their skill level.

Our ballet classes will develop creativity, expression, coordination and control.

Move, stretch and strengthen

Reduce life’s stresses and centre yourself with one of our daytime Yoga and Pilates classes at Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre.

Yoga is one of the most widely practiced of spiritual disciplines. The postures used in Yoga have been developed over thousands of years. It encourages relaxation and the posture work can alleviate back pain as well as improving circulation. Each class will improve posture, enhance your breathing and build your strength, flexibility and balance. Your stress levels will fall as your sense of wellbeing improves.

Fancy trying a Pilates class? It’s one of the most popular forms of exercise and can help get your core and the rest of your body back in shape. Our class is led by a fully qualified and experienced instructor who can support instruct and guide you through exercises designed to strengthen and tone through movement to improve mobility and flexibility.

Welcome badminton back into your social life

Are you and your friends looking for something fun and different to do? Why not come and play badminton…meet new players…and have fun

Our Badminton Club at Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre caters for players of all standards. With a mix of experienced players and a fully qualified coach on hand to give advice should you want it, you’ll be able to enjoy badminton on your own terms. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t played for years just give it a try.

We are always looking for new players to come along and join in and we will always make you feel welcome.

Badminton Club sessions are available:

Sunday 10.00am – 12noon (family session for adults and children aged 8+years)

RISE activities

RISE continues to run their regular activities throughout our sports & fitness centres and activities include Multi-Sports, Football, Yoga, Trampolining, Gym and Swimming.

In addition to these activities, we have refreshed our Fusion Dance & Drama and Junior Fusion Dance classes with a new teacher from Combination Dance Company. There are still places available for the Junior Fusion Dance classes which run on Saturdays, until the 25 March (excluding 11 March) at 11.30am–12.15pm for 5–9 years and 12.15-1.00pm for 10-16 years.

Looking for a karate class?

Karate is one of the most traditional martial arts, in essence an unarmed-combat system, employing kicking, striking and defensive blocking with arms and legs. There is a big emphasis on mental attitude and courtesy.

Here at Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre our exciting, yet structured and disciplined classes teach you how to focus your attention which will improve your ability to learn.

Once we begin to build your confidence we are then able to instill the values of respect, courtesy, honesty and integrity that are the foundations of the martial arts dating back thousands of years.

Take your marks – Swimathon is back!

Swimathon, the world’s biggest fundraising swim, has been encouraging swimmers the length and breadth of the UK to swim a distance challenge since the very first event 30 years ago. Since then, Swimathon's mission of uniting swimmers around challenges and fundraising has prompted more than half a million swimmers to take part at their local pool and raised more than &46 million for charitable causes.

All levels of fitness, all abilities and all ages are accounted for with our range of Swimathon challenges.

You can choose to take on one of our Individual 1.5k, 2.5k or 5k challenges or you can join forces with colleagues, friends or family members for our Team 1.5k and 5k.

Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre will be hosting the Swimathon event on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 April and registration is now open.
