Need something to occupy the kids this half term?

We have limited spaces available on our half term holiday swim crash courses. So please hurry and book your place today!

It’s the half term holiday and the last thing you want while the kids are home from school is for them to sit in front of the TV or play video games all day. So why not let them do something they already enjoy that’s healthy, and book them into a swim crash course at Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre.

Swimming crash courses are a great introduction to swimming for your child. The aim of our courses is to build and improve water confidence / swimming ability in all age groups, to improve weak swimmers and to give the younger ones an introduction to water safety and structured lessons.

Our holiday crash courses are designed both for participants already in our swim school and for those that have never used the centre before.

Please click here for more information please call Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre on 020 3772 2999.

Rookie Lifeguard Workshops and Fun Time Float sessions are also available during the half term holiday.

Increase your motivation with group exercise classes

Group exercise classes not only offer physical benefits, but also the social factor in interacting with other participants. You get the support and motivation from the instructor and the other participants in the class help you along the way too. Many group exercise participants have been through the same fitness and weight struggles as you and are always willing to offer advice and knowledge about how they achieved their results.

You’re also more likely to stick to your exercise routine and achieve your goals if you work out in a group environment. Great music, an instructor with a great personality and working out with other people is fun! If you didn't have fun in a class, then go to a different class that suits your personality better. It is trial and error to find your perfect class, but once you find it you'll love it!

Plus, with the variety of classes, you will never get bored of your fitness regime the variety of exercise choices offered in group settings. From Pilates, Circuits and Yoga Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre really is the place to be!

Were you in the netball team at school and fancy playing again?

Since 2010, over 60,000 women have started playing netball again through the award winning Back to Netball programme. Sessions provide a gentle re-introduction to the game for women over sixteen and are led by qualified coaches. You can just turn up, sessions are pay and play, and you can expect to cover basic skills like passing and footwork and even play in a fun match.

Whether it’s about rediscovering sporting abilities you forgot you had or about getting active again, Back to Netball caters for all abilities and giggles are guaranteed!

Sessions last for an hour and consist of a warm up, a couple of games (not matches, just silly games to get you loosened up), some drills, things like passing the ball with a partner and running the length of the pitch before trying to shoot, and then finally a short match.

Why not come along to Hampton Sports & Fitness Centre on a Thursday evening 7.00-8.00pm, join in and have lots and lots of fun!

Which is better for children: karate or taekwondo?

Which system of Martial Art is better is always a matter of opinion. The reality is that they both share similar influences far back in their origins. They both require athleticism, stamina and discipline, and are both effective for self-defense. However, you may find that the flavour of taekwondo or karate better suits your child’s physique or personality.

What distinguishes taekwondo from other martial arts is its more varied kicking techniques and its priority towards kicks as a primary weapon. In taekwondo pupils can learn to perform multiple kicks while flying and jumping in the air, but such kicks are perhaps not suitable for all pupils, and are seldom used in real-life self-defense. Karate schools generally teach very few or no jumping or flying kicks, but utilise basic kicks as a supplement to the hand and elbow strikes.

Whitton Sports & Fitness Centre offer both karate and taekwondo classes for children so why not give them a try and make your own mind up!

Karate is available:
Wednesday
5-7 years 5.00-6.00pm
8+ years 6.00-7.00pm
Friday
Beginners/Intermediate 6.00-7.00pm
Saturday
Intermediate 9.00-10.00am
Beginners 10.00-11.00am

Taekwondo is available:
Friday
8+ years 6.00-8.00pm
