Easter is just around the corner and we’ve got loads of fun things to keep the kids occupied during the Easter holidays. For that special Easter treat why not try your hand at making our delicious hot cross bun and butter pudding! See our recipe of the month section for more details.

Les Mills fitness classes are coming soon!

Here at Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre we have a great programme of fitness classes for you to try. With Zumba, Piloxing, Insanity, Aqua, legs, bums and tums, yoga and Pilates to choose from you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Whether you want to lose weight, increase muscle tone, stay fit or just have some fun, Teddington is the place to be.

Les Mills classes are coming soon! Our new programme will launch on Monday 20 April and will include Body Pump, RPM and Body Attack.

Eggstra special fun in the pool!

The Easter holidays are nearly here and if you’re looking for something fun and energetic to keep the kids occupied then look no further than Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre.

We are running two weeks of swimming crash courses. A short intensive course is often the best way to learn to swim or develop your skills. Courses are available for all ages and abilities including beginners through to improvers.

One day workshops for diving are also available. These workshops are a great way to improve diving skills, learn how to do elementary dives, leading into racing dives from the side and the blocks. Diving is for children over 8 years and they must be able to swim 25 metres of all strokes.

Would you like to learn some lifeguarding skills? Then why not try our rookie lifeguard workshop. This session includes rope throwing, towing and rescues. Rookie lifeguard is for children aged 8 years and able to swim 50 metres of an efficient stroke.

Feel Good Swim School – new pupils can book this weekend!

For those wanting to learn to swim we offer courses for all ages and abilities. We have highly qualified instructors who will help to develop confidence both in and around the water.

Bookings have started for our new term. Our April – July courses will start w/c 13 April.

Booking dates for junior and infant learn to swim lessons:

New pupil bookings – junior learn to swim
Infant Swim School pupils (pre-school/toddler) moving into the junior programme (staying on the same day) can book from Saturday 21 March. Bookings start from 12noon

All new pupils can book from Sunday 22 March onwards. Bookings start at 12noon.

New pupil bookings – Infant learn to swim
All new pupils can book from Tuesday 24 March onwards. Bookings can be accepted at any time.

There’s nothing like the water to keep kids fit and healthy, energised and having fun. With our junior learn to swim programme at Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre offers a range of classes to turn your child into strong confident swimmers. It’s vital that every child learns to swim and gains core knowledge regarding water safety.

We aim to challenge, encourage and motivate children to achieve their full swimming potential.

Recipe of the month

Easter is nearly here so why not treat yourself to our delicious Hot Cross Bun and Butter Pudding!

Hot Cross Bun Bread and Butter Pudding

Ingredients

300ml pot double cream
600ml milk
4 eggs
100g golden caster sugar
1½ tsp vanilla essence
8 hot cross buns
40g soft butter
100g marzipan, cubed
3 tbsp chunky marmalade
Icing sugar, for dusting

Method

Heat oven to 170C/150C fan/gas 3. Warm the cream and milk in a
pan over a gentle heat. Whisk the eggs, sugar and vanilla together
with a fork in a large bowl, then gradually add the warm cream
mixture.

Halve the buns and spread with the butter. Arrange in a large
shallow ovenproof dish (approx 25 x 32cm), dot with the marzipan and
brush the marmalade on top.

Pour over the cream mixture and set aside to soak for 15 minutes.
Press the buns down into the custard mixture as they soften.

Bake for 50 minutes until set, then remove and allow to stand for 10
minutes. Dust lightly with icing sugar and serve while still warm.

At Teddington Pools & Fitness Centre we have a range of adult lessons designed for varying abilities. It’s never too late to learn to swim. From lessons for the complete beginner who lacks water confidence to lessons for competent swimmers who want to improve their technique. Feel Good Swim School has it all!

Many adults would like to learn to swim given the right opportunity. Swimming is an excellent form of low impact exercise with many health benefits including weight loss, muscle toning and cardiorespiratory improvement. It’s also good fun.

We understand that you may feel embarrassed or nervous about taking swimming lessons as an adult but please don’t feel like you’re the only one.

We offer 6 week courses for beginners, intermediate or advanced swimmers. Our next term will start in April and booking is now available.

Do your children enjoy playing badminton?

Our increasingly popular Junior Badminton Club is the perfect first step into badminton. Our resident badminton coach coordinates these exciting weekly sessions and ensures that all newcomers and regulars are made welcome. The sessions aim to help introduce and develop the basic skills of badminton in a fun and friendly atmosphere that guarantees a smashing time

We aim to teach children the game of Badminton through coaching programmes whilst encouraging them to have fun and meet new friends.

Junior Badminton sessions are available as a course or a drop in session on Sundays 9.30-11.00am.

Sports club update – karate and judo with Bu’Sen

The Anglo Japanese Judo Association who's headquarters is at Bu-Sen in Twickenham invited all members from their numerous satellite clubs to attend their annual tournament which was held at Hampton Academy on the 1 March.
With over 150 entries it proved to be a very busy and productive day, with the organisation and refereeing being up to its usual first class standard, apart from the odd bruise the whole day was injury free demonstrating the control and discipline shown by all the fighters during the day.
The Olympic Games in Rio are not far away and it may be the case that one day some of these budding champions will represent their country at the highest level. Well done to all of the competitors and we look forward to seeing you at our next event.
